Key Takeaways from the 2026 TIA Capital Ideas Conference

What issues are top-of-mind for the logistics industry today? I recently joined fellow transportation professionals and advocates in Phoenix for the 2026 TIA Capital Ideas Conference. These gatherings are more than just networking opportunities; they are essential forums for addressing the regulatory shifts, technological advancements, and evolving threats that face our industry.

At RMX Global Logistics, our engagement with the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) is a core part of our commitment to strengthening the reputation of the brokerage community. Here is an overview of some of the sessions from the event.

Today, Tomorrow, and Next Year

A main theme was how brokers can prepare against threats to our industry and reputation. TIA chair Lynn Gravley spoke about the threats we are facing today, tomorrow, and next year.

Today: Combatting Systematic Criminal Networks

The most immediate threat to our industry’s integrity is the rise of sophisticated criminal networks. Fraud is no longer just a nuisance; it is a systematic attack on the supply chain.  In order to redeem our industry reputation, action must be taken against bad actors who aren’t operating with integrity.

While we wait for the federal government to modernize an antiquated registration system, the responsibility falls on us. At RMX, we believe compliance isn’t a one-and-done checkbox. Every broker must evolve their fraud prevention tactics, move toward continuous carrier verification, and prioritize data security to try to safeguard every load.

Tomorrow: Legal Clarity in the Courts

The legal landscape is on the verge of a significant shift. The Supreme Court recently heard arguments regarding whether freight brokers can be held liable under state laws for negligent hiring of motor carriers.

A decision is expected in June or July of this year. If the Court sides with the petitioners, the operational landscape for brokers will change overnight. Regardless of the outcome, the industry is eager for the clarity this ruling will provide, allowing us to better manage risk and structure our relationships.

Next Year: The Real Role of AI

Artificial Intelligence was the buzz of the conference. While technology has evolved in logistics for decades, AI has accelerated the pace of change.

There is a valid concern that AI might automate certain roles, but the consensus among leaders is clear: while AI can optimize processes and analyze data with incredible speed, it cannot replicate the strategic intuition and genuine care that an experienced logistics team provides. At RMX, we view AI as a tool to modernize our business—not a replacement for the human relationships that are integral to our business relationships.

The RMX Difference

At RMX Global Logistics, we believe that staying ahead of the curve is the only way to keep our customers ahead of the competition. Attending the TIA conference is just one part of our broader commitment to continuous improvement. We don’t just react to the market; we learn and evolve alongside it so that we can continue to provide the seamless, high-level collaboration our customers have come to expect.
